Location: Flexible (London, Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham, Preston, Leeds or Newcastle)

Salary: up to £44,646 plus an additional allowance of up to £15,000 for exceptional candidates (additional London weighting of £4,729 for those based in our London office)

The work continues as CQC is undergoing a significant digital transformation. The Digital directorate will be overseeing delivery of our information management and technology strategy, setting out to overhaul our systems over the next few years. We are looking to strengthen our Digital function to deliver on our business priorities. Our core methodology and delivery approach will shift from a waterfall to an agile method. 

About the Role

As an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer you will design, build test and maintain the cloud application infrastructure, working collaboratively with Software Engineering to deploy and operate CQC’s systems.

You will also be responsible for building services that are secure, stable and scalable, maintaining tools for continual integration and deployment, monitoring and operations, designing, documenting, implementing and monitoring scheduled maintenance plans and finally troubleshooting and resolving issues.

About You

You should be educated to degree level or have an equivalent qualification and experience of architecting, securing, scaling and administering cloud based solutions on platforms such as Microsoft Azure, utilising IaaS or PaaS based services.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience with ASP.Net based systems and applications
  • Experience debugging a complex, multi-server service in a high availability production environment
  • Experience of building and optimising deployment pipelines and deployment strategies on popular CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps/VSTS
  • Experience of Containerisation with tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience using scripting languages such as node.js or javaScript
  • Experience of creating ARM Templates / JSON Scripts preferred

Previous experience working in multidisciplinary Agile teams (with Agile tools and processes, such as Kanban, SCRUM JIRA, etc.) and knowledge of networking (switching, routing, VPN’s, Load balancing) and security (including Firewalls IPS/IDS, Antivirus, SIEM, IDaM, DDOS) is desirable in this post.
