About the role

The Legal Services team provides responsive, appropriate and cost-efficient expert legal advice and support to the CQC, covering all areas of law that potentially impact on the organisation and its work.

Our Paralegals provide support across the team but particularly in relation to our litigation, prosecutions and inquests function, where they drive case management and progress cases. They also provide a high level of support to our lawyers working on a range of complex cases in the criminal courts, the First-tier Tribunal, the Administrative Court and the Coroners’ Courts.

About you

You will have been educated to degree level or have equal relevant legal experience. You will have a proven record of case management, case progression and working with lawyers in legal proceedings (whether civil or criminal litigation). We expect you to be able to work diligently and at a fast-pace with a keen legal mind, attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Whether it is taking witness statements, managing tribunal cases, attending court with lawyers or preparing bundles for hearings, you will be part of a team ensuring that the CQC is represented to a high professional standard, and that our colleagues receive clear advice and guidance from Legal Services.
