About the Role

Our Intelligence Graduate Analyst Scheme welcomes an intake of graduates every year. By joining us, you will have the chance to develop your skills analysing a wide range of data relating to health and social care. Your work will provide valuable information which will guide improvements in health and social care.

Our graduate scheme lasts for two years. In this time, you will gain experience by spending time with our different teams. You will also have the option of experiencing an external placement with one of our partners, such as the Department of Health & Social Care or NHS England.

About the CQC

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the regulator of Health and Adult Social Care services. The Intelligence unit is an important part of this.  We provide evidence for CQC’s regulatory decisions and publications through the analysis, interpretation and presentation of data.  We also provide insight into quality and risk in health and care. We do this by working in close partnership with all parts of CQC and external stakeholders.

We have a strong learning ethos at CQC.  We offer our graduates opportunities for development against our competency framework- this includes analytical skills and thinking, communicating with clarity, strategic awareness, and more.

About the Teams

Our teams work in different ways. Some teams analyse quantitative data about services to assess risk or inform inspection teams. Others look at data on a larger scale to find local or national risks or trends. We also have teams who create and analyse surveys, and teams who work with qualitative data, such as patient feedback.

We currently have eight vacancies for people to join our Graduate Analyst Scheme in October 2019.  

We are also offering specific data science and qualitative analysis pathways through the scheme this year.

  • Data Science: We have started to use data science methods to help us in our work. We have statisticians, data scientists and subject matter experts who analyse large volumes of data, support our Intelligence products and explore new data sources.
  • Qualitative Analysis: A number of our teams specialise in qualitative analysis and text-based data. The work that they do helps us to better understand the experience of care received by people who use the services we regulate. It involves both manual and automated analysis of large qualitative data sets.

About You

You will have, or be expecting, a minimum 2:2 degree or equivalent in any subject.

You will also have an awareness of the role of CQC and an interest in health and social care services.

You will enjoy thinking analytically and problem-solving. You will be able to identify trends and patterns in data and explain why these are important.

You will also be good at communicating using a range of methods and styles. You will be able to work well with others and contribute to a positive working environment.
