About CQC

CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. We make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve. We monitor, inspect and regulate services to ensure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and we publish what we find to help people choose care.  Under the Mental Health Act we have the power to investigate individual complaints about care received whilst a person is detained under the Mental Health Act, on a Community Treatment Order or under guardianship.  These are the only times the CQC can review or investigate individual complaints.

About the role

The Directorate Support Officer is responsible for providing high quality effective administrative support to the Directorate across a range of duties as directed by your line manager and within agreed processes and timescales. You will provide administrative support for activities such as issuing reports and correspondence and tracking and processing requests for information whilst maintaining accurate records within CQC systems and tools to ensure data integrity. You will also have the opportunity to assist with the production of team newsletters and event materials whilst contributing to a high performance culture and taking personal responsibility for achieving individual targets.

About you

The successful post-holder will be educated to GCSE A*- C/NVQ2, equivalent qualification level, or be able to demonstrate appropriate operational experience. Your experience of working with other teams and building relationships at all levels will enable you to work collaboratively across teams and respond flexibly to directorate demands and priorities. With good organisational skills, you will have the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines whilst working without close supervision and manage your own performance.

It is essential you have excellent IT skills in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and have experience of using management information systems, collating and presenting information. You should also have good oral and written communication skills to be successful in this role. As part of the role within complaints there may be occassions when people are contacting the department who are quite anxious and challenging. You will be expected to be able to deal with calls in a professional, sensitive and understanding way.

It is desirable for you to have knowledge and understanding of CQC’s role within the health and social care environment and an ability to generate original ideas and develop practical solutions. It will also be desirable for you to have experience of dealing with health care complaints/concerns.

Underpinning all of the above, we expect you to be committed to CQC’s values of Excellence, Caring, Integrity and Teamwork.

Closing date: 11.45pm on 21st January 2018
