About the role

As an Assistant Inspector, you will work alongside and directly support the work of Inspection Managers and Inspectors within the Adult Social Care directorate, to ensure the delivery of high quality inspections. You will provide support for a hub area, assisting in tasks that Inspectors undertake, supporting the Inspection Team by gathering and collating evidence including contributing to its corroboration; pre-inspection, during an inspection visit and post inspection.  It may include collating data and helping to plan the inspection timetables and accompany an Inspection Team using the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SoFi).

This role is interesting, challenging and rewarding. As an Assistant Inspector you will be required to work in a fast paced environment taking new ideas and challenges on board quickly to ensure a high quality service. With some understanding of health and social care, you will have previous work experience from which you can demonstrate the required skills for the role. You will be required to manage complex workloads, demonstrating high levels of attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities. Most of all you'll be enthusiastic, passionate and willing to learn to support us in the achievement of our organisational goals, whilst being a role model of CQC’s values and behaviours.

About you

You'll hold an A-level qualification or an equivalent qualification in social care and health. You will have proven experience of working in health or social care such as regulation, service provision, private or voluntary sector.

You will need to be resilient and self-motivated, have strong analytical and written skills and be confident in analysing large amounts of data of all types to produce detailed written reports. You will be a good communicator, and have the ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders and people across a range of organisations at all levels and in multiple settings.

Role location

The Assistant Inspector role for Adult Social Care is home based. There will be a requirement to travel regularly within the region. Sometimes this travel will be planned and sometimes this travel will be at short notice and can even on occasions be outside of normal business hours. Therefore to fulfil this role you must be able to accommodate the need to travel in a responsive and effective way without impact to the requirements of the role.  

Due to travel requirements, you will be required to reside within the South Central area, or be willing to relocate into this region (relocation assistant is not provided by CQC) in order to be considered for this role.

Assessment Process

You will be shortlisted based on the competencies required for the role as outlined by the accompanying job description.

Once shortlisted, successful applicants will be invited to attend an assessment centre which will include a number of exercises and a final interview.

Please note appointment into this role is subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
