About the role

A key part of CQCs strategy is to deliver an intelligence driven approach to regulation. The Intelligence directorate is evolving to meet this challenge, and is investing in new tools and IT infrastructure. Concurrently the regulatory landscape is developing, and a clear understanding of how health and social organisations work together is becoming more important.

We are creating new data driven products to support work across health and social care sectors and with new care models, and need to be able to produce efficient and timely products. This role is an exciting opportunity to join a changing organization and drive this work forward.

You will take a lead in providing automated analytical products bringing together heterogeneous data types and sources in a seamless way. You will need to ensure that these products are delivering credible interpretations of the data, and maximize impact and timeliness, both for internal and external audiences. One example is automation of the data product that supported the recent local systems review work and the development of this, but you should expect to work on products which cover a wide range of different issues, types of organizations, and geographical scales.

Leading or coordinating ad hoc teams of analysts, senior analysts and specialist staff, you will work collaboratively across teams including our Digital directorate, and Engagement teams to scope and deliver these reports using a range of software.

About you

A key requirement is the ability to use the tools we currently have available to support automation work, and the ability to rapidly become proficient in newly procured tools. This includes BI publisher (key), OBIEE (key), VBA (key), Endeca, ArcGIS, Python, and R. We expect you to be the technical lead for automation within our function and you will need to be able to support and coach others.

We’re looking for a capable leader with experience in a similar role. You should have experience of all stages of delivering small and large scale projects. You’ll also have excellent communication skills that enable you to inspire your colleagues, manage a variety of different relationships with senior stakeholders, and present complex information in a clear and simple way. Educated to degree standard (or equivalent), you’ll be a credible professional.

You will have excellent quantitative analytical skills, experience of qualitative analysis and previous experience of working in an analytical role along with experience of interpreting and presenting data sets to a wide range of audiences. Experience of health and social care data is an advantage but not essential.
